(Established 22 November 1993, prior to October 2010 it was known at the 'Centre for Plant Biodiversity Research')

The CANBR is a collaborative venture between:
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Division of Plant Industry.

Australian National Botanic Gardens (ANBG)  
with close links to the Department of the Environment.
