Taeniophyllum confertum B.Gray & D.L.Jones, Orchadian 8(2): 42-43, f. (1984). Type: Cook district: Timber Reserve 146, Mondhouse Tableland logging area, 11 Sep. 1980, B. Gray 1797 (holo QRS).
Occurs in north-eastern Queensland from the Big Tableland to the Mulgrave River.
Altitude: 30-900 m.
Leafless epiphytic or lithophytic herb forming small clumps. Roots numerous, appressed to host, 3-10 cm x 0.2-0.3 cm, dull green, flattened. Stems 0.1-0.2 cm long. Leaves reduced to tiny conspicuous bracts, crowded, imbricate, at base of stem. Inflorescence an axillary raceme, 1-4 mm long, thin; peduncle sheathed with imbricate bracts, crowded, triangular, green. Flowers 5-10, resupinate, porrect, tubular, 4-5 mm x 2 mm, pale green, opening one at a time. Sepals and petals fleshy, bases fused, free in upper half and spreading slightly. Labellum unlobed, cybiform, 3 mm x 1 mm, green, fleshy, with small obtuse apical appendage; spur 2 mm long. Column porrect, straight, 0.75 mm long. Capsules porrect, 12-15 mm long, falcate, triangular in cross section, dehiscent.
Occurs in rainforests growing on twigs and the smaller branches of trees.
Localised.
Flowering period: August-December.
