Chris Materne has an Applied Science degree
in Natural Resource Management from the
University of Adelaide, and has lived in the
Territory since 1991.
He was employed in the
Barkly region as a Department of Primary Industry, Fisheries and
Mines (DPIFM) Pastoral Production
Officer for five years (and two years as a District
Ranger with Parks and Wildlife).
Chris carried
out research into pasture dynamics and
extension activities in rangeland management,
gaining extensive knowledge of the Barkly flora
during which he discovered several new plant
records for the region.
He assisted Jenny Purdie with the production of 'A Field Guide to the Plants of the Barkly Region of the Northern Territory' (2008)
