Born in, England, to a Mr Wilkinson and Dinah née Weeks. Charlotte married John Augustus Manton (c.1790-1852), a merchant, in London c.1831. They had eight children. The Mantons migrated to Victoria in c.1840 where Charlotte's husband established a successful business in Melbourne. In the 1870s, Charlotte took up land near Mirboo in East Gippsland, and lived at the residence 'Brooklands', Boolarra.
She collected (numbered) MEL specimens (including cryptogams) at Tarwin, Mirboo, 1882, and Snowy Creek, 1889.
Her granddaughter EVA FRANCES LAMONT also collected MEL specimens.
In 1896, Charlotte died in Melbourne aged 85.
