Born on 25 January 1933 in Holland and migrated to Australia in 1956.
He worked in one of Holland's
largest nurseries as a plant breeder and gained a certificate in
horticulture at Haarlem. His work entailed plant breeding and
propagation for commercial purposes. He joined the Forestry and Timber
Bureau, Canberra, in 1961 and, with other staff, transferred to the
Division of Forest Research, CSIRO, 1975. He transferred to Samford,
Brisbane, in 1980, and retired in December 1987. He was a Technical
Officer with many years experience in glasshouse work.
