Born at Lithgow, N.S.W., on 15 January 1888.
Following information from the
Registrar-General's Office for Qld, it was found from the State
Electoral Office that Smith was enrolled in the Wolston Division, with
an address in a Brisbane suburb. He joined the staff of the Forestry
Department of Queensland in November 1919, starting as a workman but
rising successively to Forest Overseer, Forest Ranger and Forester
Division II and III. When he retired on 30 June 1954 he was stationed
in Brisbane, but had been previously posted at various centres,
including Inglewood, Toowoomba and Fraser Island.
