Objective: To build skills
in restoring woodlands of the Western Australian Wheatbelt.
Themes included:
- The ecological principles essential to planning for
management.
- Understanding the task (the goal for the site,
planning, resources, assessing site and vegetation condition, issues
such as soil health, monitoring and ongoing management).
- Applying ecological principles to woodland management
(local case studies, site visits, demonstration and trialling of
techniques).
The workshop was a mix of presentations by
experienced woodland managers, case-studies and hands-on tasks at field
sites. Participants had the opportunity to expand their skills and
knowledge, exchange ideas and expertise, work with experts and meet other
people working to manage Wheatbelt Woodlands.
