Pseudopodetia hollow, to 1.5 cm tall, green to yellow-green to brown. Sterile pseudopodetia to 2 mm tall, sorediose on tips or completely reduced to soredia. Fertile pseudopodetia horny when dry, to 15 mm tall, branched towards apex, sorediose on inside. Inner-medulla lacking. Apothecia solitary or sometimes tiered, to 0.5 mm wide; disc slightly concave to flat, dull, brownish black to black; exciple slightly raised at first, disappearing at maturity; lower cortex black. Ascospores 8–10 × 3 µm. Pycnidia ellipsoidal, 120 × 60 µm. Conidia rod-shaped, 5 × 1 µ. CHEMISTRY: thallus K-, C-, KC-, CK- or CK+ faint yellow, P-. ±gyrophoric, fumarprotocetraric, protolichesterinic, ursolic acids and unknown triterpenes. | ||
Occurs on bark, in W.A., S.A., Qld, N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas.; also in New Zealand and Chile. | ||
